Austin Trip

Shortly after Steve and I returned home from Scotland, we took a quick trip to Austin. We actually stayed at a fabulous Bed and Breakfast in Fredericksburg called Settler's Crossing. We would highly recommend it...it was fabulous and so quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed watching the sunset and walking around the property watching all of the many animals that were on site. We had a lovely dinner in Fredericksburg and walked around the shops. We picked up a new cross for our wall while there. We look forward to another visit in the near future.
 Our Cabin

The cat that seemed to "belong" to the cabin....he was very friendly...Steve even fed him some milk for breakfast.

 There were deer EVERYWHERE

 Great shot of a hummingbird

 Sheep were just roaming around

There were two donkeys and a horse. They were very friendly

Steve is literally the animal whisperer....ALL animals will come to him caged or uncaged...

"Get Your Guns Up" Steve was not acting like  he was shooting the donkey for all you non Texas Tech fans. He was simply giving Texas Tech sign...apparantly you can put pictures on their facebook page

After leaving Fredericksburg, we drove into Austin and saw the capitol building. I have lived in Texas since I was 8, and Steve has lived here his whole life. Neither of us had ever been. It was beautiful and a place we will definitely be visiting again. The actual point of our Austin visit was to see the Haley family who were on their way to Alabama after their two year stint in Korea so after a quick tour of the Capitol building, we met up with them. I had not seen them in 6 years and had never met any of their children. We had a lovely lunch at Chick Fil A just catching up. Don is actually the first of the Mayfield boys to meet Steve. Hopefully he approved. Steve really enjoyed getting to know the Haley family!  :) Unfortunately we did not take any pictures of them. On our way home, we drove through the University of Texas campus.

At the very top of the rotunda. If you stood right underneath this star and talked, everything you said was amplified but just to you....not to anyone else....very cool
