We have a new baby...dog that is! :) We were at Petco one weekend getting ferret litter and the dogs were out for adoption as they always are. I went back to the Jeep to tell Steve and Nolan and we all decided to take a look. Keep in mind that we take a trip to Petco almost every weekend and look at the dogs. However, we are always able to leave because they are all either old, sick, missing a leg, missing an eye, ugly, or a chihuahua mix. However, this day there was some precious puppies who were "labeled" (key word) catahoula/blue heeler. We have some friends who got a catahoula and she is a great dog. We knew that mix would probably grow to be about 30-40 pounds which was a good size for us. Here is what she looked like when we got her...
Absolutely precious....and as you can see VERY small
I was certainly not convinced that she would be a 30-40 pound dog, but she did have the classic markings of a catahoula. We took her to the vet thinking that maybe they were wrong about how old she was. However, the vet told us that she was definitely 7-8 weeks old judging by her teeth and a whopping 2 pounds...she told us that we would be lucky to end up with a 10 pound dog! The vet was confused as to what she was mixed with....all we knew was it was something small. After doing some research, we discovered that she is actually a catahoula/chihuahua mix. Steve was devastated as chihuahuas are the ONE dog he said he would NEVER get. Luckily he is in love with her and even more lucky is that she doesn't show very many chihuahua traits. She definitely has more catahoula in her than chihuahua. We absolutely love her including Callie, Steve's German Shephard. Callie treats her like her pup and they have great fun together! Carson and Clancy, however, are not too fond of her and decided that they wanted to go and live with my mom where there were no puppies. :) We named her Stirling after the city in Scotland where Steve and spent part of our honeymoon. She is a great addition to our family....

She was so little when we got her that she could barely get food out of the bowl....she had to practically get in the bowl to get food.....it was so cute.
