As if winning the Social Studies contest wasn't enough, the first weekend in April we went to the state DI competition in Lubbock, and our two Mittelstadt teams both won FIRST PLACE in the whole state of Texas! It was an unbelievable experience for all of us. Braden's structure held 685 pounds and it weighed less than 13 grams!!! Wow! Steve and I's improv team totally rocked instant challenge turning what seemed to be an impossible challenge into a possible one. The ride up to Lubbock wasn't great considering Steve got the violent Mittelstadt stomach bug and we had to stop every hour and the bus ride for the others wasn't much better. Despite that, they all did such a fabulous job on Saturday. They all did their very best and knew that even if they didn't win or advance that they did the very best they could. We all sat on pins and needles Saturday night waiting for the results. The improv team found out first that they had won, but we had to wait for over 30 minutes to find out about the structure team. We will be traveling to Tennessee with 3 other Klein teams over Memorial Day weekend to compete at the global finals. We are so excited. Enjoy some pictures from the weekend!
